This past weekend, God met me in a real way, right in the middle of a life storm. How did He meet me, you ask? In prayer.
Can I share some spiritual wisdom with you? The enemy will attempt to distract you with busyness. He will create a way of escape for you not to deal with the fierce storms that come.
I am filled with gratitude that the Holy Spirit lead me to press pause on everything and to seek the face of God. It was in prayer that God gave me the confidence to rebuke the winds and the waves and by Sunday morning; I saw the calmness.
Bad weather can comprise heavy rain, strong winds, and thunder. It’s very similar to the spiritual storms that arise in our lives. The storm’s fierceness and violence can be frightening to even the seasoned Christian.
Storms can come without warning. To be honest, who really goes looking for a storm to occur? Unless you’re a storm chaser, many would consider this foolish behavior.
I’d rather storms pass me by because they catch me often by surprise and without warning. And often the danger of the storm is great.
What’s on the line is our faith. The enemy comes to tempt you. God comes to test you.
The reality is all storms are not sent by the devil. Some storms are sent by God to test your faith. Storms are a valuable thing God uses to examine our hearts and minds.
Many of us panic when the storm comes. The spiritual reality is a storm puts your faith in God on trial.
Questions during Cross Examination:
Is your faith real?
Are you really His child?
Do you allow the trials to overtake you?
The Lord revealed to me during the night. You may be under attack (subject to aggressive, violent, or harmful action.), but the devil will not seize you (take hold of suddenly and forcibly.). This was comforting to me, but I also pondered on these words.
How could the Lord say such a thing? He reminded me of this scripture. “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4
Panic doesn’t always get the attention of God, but our faith and the way we pray does.
Panic produces fear, and it reflects that your faith is little. Every storm that comes is to push you from not just living in the Spirit, but walking in the Spirit. Believing that God is and can work it out. We don’t have to ask who this man is. We know Him as Savior, Master, Healer, Deliverer, Elohim, The Great I Am, Jehovah Jireh. He’s whatever we need Him to be.
All we have to do is ask (pray) and never discount the power of God.
