"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will do it." - Psalm 37:5
I would hear, "Do you have a vision for your life?" What does that mean?
I didn't understand what was being asked so I brushed it off. Now, being older and more mature, I can now understand what they meant. They were really asking if I had a set goals for my life, and a way that I would achieve those goals.
Well, I didn't because I was basically walking through life aimlessly. Aimlessly? Yes, because there was no intended target therefore I nonchalantly handled what life was bringing. I only dreamed of being successful. I knew what I wanted to do but did nothing to bring those dreams to fruition.
It seemed so hard to achieve the goals from where I stood in my life at that time, being successful seemed more like a fairy tale. In life you must aim at a specific target so that you can have something to focus on.
After obtaining my GED my aim was college. I knew my long term goal was to earn a Master's Degree in Psychology. I wanted to dedicate my life to helping people in any capacity I could. I knew that it would be hard work but I was passionate about the pursuit. The vision kept me from deterring when opposition presented itself.
The vision gave me a reason to keep going when it seemed everything was going wrong. The vision helped me to see beyond being uncomfortable and picturing all the people that would need my expertise on the other side. The vision will drive you to finish line even when fulfillment seems to be so far away.
Do you have a vision for your life? Are you struggling with blurred vision which means you have some idea but it may be out of focus?
Surround yourself with people that will help things become much clearer. Sometimes others are able to identity what's inside of you more than you can. When you discover it, write it down. Set short and long term goals.
Prepare for obstacles because anything worth having comes with a fight. Don't allow anything stop your dream/vision becoming your reality, it will all be worth it in the end.
