"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV
Have you ever found yourself stuck in the past? Frequently, focusing on your past hurt, rejection, mistakes, and trials. Are you still revisiting what's behind you; carrying around baggage that you were not designed to carry? For some of us, it's convenient to live in our past. We sometimes feel that if we choose not to love or try again, we don't have to worry about rejection, failure, or disappointment. It's easier to stay buried in our pain; life won't snatch me breathless when I try to live again.Â
It seems like a safe zone, but it's not. I have struggled with thinking the same and have to shift my mind quickly. Every time I try to move forward, the enemy would hold my mind captive with negative seeds like:
You will always be a mistake;
They are going to abandon you as your mother/father did you;
No-one will ever love you; and
You will stay stuck.
Immediately I must replace every negative thought and make it align with the word of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 For every lie, I must find the truth in God's word.
The Lord said, "I have loved you with an everlasting love." Jeremiah 31:3
Psalms 27:10 says Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.
Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us God will never leave us or forsake us.
You are not your past!
The scripture says "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." II Corinthians 5:17 NKJVÂ
Jesus purpose is that you may have life and have it more abundantly. John 10:10
I've been asked how did I move past the hurt of my past?
1.  Surrender - Praying and giving it to God. If you truly want God to take it because you are tired of being in captivity; I'm a witness, he will take whatever it may be that's keeping you in bondage.
Jesus died on the cross so we can be FREE!
2.  Talk About It- We can't heal on what we refuse to talk about or confront. The more we tell our testimony it helps others and points them back to Jesus.
3.  Trust the Process- Everyone’s process is different. Some may heal in 3-6 months, or it may take years. Keep believing in God and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5-6
There will be moments when you doubt your process. When those moments come always look at where you use to be and thank God for where you are now in your process.
Scriptures for Encouraging:
"Not that I have already obtained it [this goal of being Christlike] or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on so that I may take hold of that [perfection] for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me His own." "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14 AMP
