What About Your Friends?

Collide 2018 Conference

Allies are defined as joining a relationship by friendship.

What are friends for? Have you ever pondered this thought? I have, especially when life was happening to me and I felt alone. I had over 200+ contacts in my phone and over 2000+ Facebook friends but no one I could call in my time of need.

Of course this was B.C. = Before Christ

How be the ever, there are still Christian women today that face this challenge. I want to help guide us in the right direction of the purpose of friendship.

For so long, the focus has been on friendship. Friendship meaning a relationship between friends. I want to shift your focus to #covenantfriendship. There's a difference.

Covenant friendship is an agreement between heaven and earth that the person you are connected to is appointed by God before the foundations of the earth.

To be honest, everybody can't cover you. Some people are sent by the devil to assassinate you. The same way we pray for a mate, is the same way we should pray for God to bless us with covenant friendships.

I can only tell you this from experience. I was at a place in life were I just wanted friendships with like-minded people. As I connected with other women I started to find there was a process to choosing friends. After 2+ connections that made me question the entire #friendship term. I decided to seek God's counsel on connecting with others and calling them #friends.

Before, I induct someone into the Hall of Friendship. I act upon the scripture (Matthew 6:33) I seek God before I proceed with calling that person my friend. Then, I wait until God gives me confirmation to proceed. Not sure what that looks lik...well it's different for each person, but for me during the waiting period I observe people from afar. I judge your character. How do you interact with others outside of social media and also on social media, what words are flowing from your lips, and a host of other things.

I take heed to the scripture that says, 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."

I refuse to allow myself to be corrupted by the actions of others.

Here are a few ways to know if someone is or can become your allies:

1. She inspires you

2. She keeps it 100 with you #real

3. She stands for righteousness and holiness #kingdomminded

4. She teaches the gospel through her daily lifestyle

5. She thrives in her personal, professional and spiritual areas of life #shethrives

6. She offers hope by being optimistic

7. She supports your #purpose by #praying for you daily.

I hope this helps you, as it has greatly helped me. Also, make sure you are being a good friend as well.
